Lost Keys for a Chubb Grade One Safe Near Embankment? Picking Saves the Day!
Recently, one of our long‑standing clients near Embankment-London gave us a call in mild panic after misplacing the keys to a much‑loved Chubb Grade One safe. Now, Chubb Grade One safes are not exactly known for being cooperative when keys go missing. In fact, they are famously stubborn—so non‑destructive entry was very much the order of the day.
Why Chubb Grade One Safes Don’t Like Being Drilled
Chubb Grade One safes are engineered to make life difficult for anyone attempting forced entry. They’re designed to resist drilling, cutting, grinding, and pretty much anything else you might throw at them. With hardened steel, composite hardplates, and internal relockers ready to throw a tantrum at the first hint of aggression, drilling is very much a last resort.
Picking: The Calm, Civilised Approach
Rather than upsetting the safe (and triggering hidden relockers), we opted for the gentler route—lock picking. For high‑security safes, careful manipulation is widely considered the least destructive and most respectful way to restore access. The goal, after all, is to open the safe… not declare war on it. At Safebusters, we always aim to preserve the integrity of the safe wherever possible.
The Moment of Truth (and Mild Professional Grumpiness)
After what can only be described as far too many hours of delicate manipulation—and one increasingly muttered engineer from Safebusters—the Chubb Grade One lock finally admitted defeat. Victory was achieved. The safe was opened. The room atmosphere improved immediately & Will Kelly our Safe engineer was happy.
Rekeyed, Recovered, and Ready to Go
With access restored, the old lock was replaced and new keys were supplied, returning the safe to full working order and saving the client from an expensive replacement. The result? One very happy client… and one slightly grumpy but extremely satisfied safe engineer.
Lesson Learned: Even Experts Need Practice
Every job is a reminder that safe opening is a skill you need to keep sharp. Leave it too long between tricky jobs and the safe will absolutely remind you who’s boss. As today proved—practice really does make perfect (and slightly less grumpy engineers).
If you’ve lost the keys to a Chubb safe or any high‑security unit, Safebusters is always happy to help—preferably without upsetting the safe, the client, or the engineer.
